Ridhuan: Last day in AMREC SIRIM

.
I don't remember when Ridhuan joined AMREC SIRIM, perhaps early this year. Regardless of the date and time he joined, he is now leaving.

People come and go, but the legacy remains, that's what most people say. More popular as Weng, I regard him as a talkative, happy-go-lucky, funny and friendly kind of guy.

Ridhuan will be joining National Space Agency (ANGKASA) this December. I don't have much to say in here, the best words could probably 'Good luck' and do keep in touch.

Here are some pictures taken at the last hour of the day:

The 3rd floor

Smile under the blue sky

Conversation between two good friends
Weng, "Matanya membuatku terpesona..."
Firdaus, "Ha.. kantoi! Patutla projek tak siap"
(Sorry no English translation)

Model of the year, eh?
(I think they can be the cover of People Magazine, December issue. What say you?)

Badminton Tournament: AMREC Closed

.
Sudirman-Khairul Shakirin vs Bakri-Izha

Based on the original plan, the closed tournament should be held on May 11-12. After almost two weeks of postponing, the closed event was finally realized yesterday.

Randomly selected, I was assigned to Group A. I was partnering with Yusli in this solely men's doubles event. Interestingly we were drawn to meet Juri Che Hat and Khairul Shakirin. The good thing is we won 21-12,19-21,21-16. Tough match though. Thanks to my partner Yusli for covering some parts of my weaknesses. The most shocking result came out at the beginning of the match. Believe it or not, the formidable pair of Sudirman and Khairul Shakirin were upset by Bakri and Izha in straight game! What a match!

It was a mix fortune for my housemates. Khairuldin who was partnering with Khairul Nizan (aka Oun) lost to Lokman and Nizam in rubber sets. On the other hand my other housemate Shams, with his partner Cupin, were regarded as an easy prey by many, won over Mat Leh and Anas in rubber sets, another upset of the day. So never underestimate the underdogs!

Overall my team (Group A) was beaten by Group B in a close tie 3-4. Nothing to lose. We really enjoyed the game.

Overruled.. supporters are too close for comfort

Top seed, Sudirman@Lee Yong Dae and Khairul Shakirin suffered shocking defeat..

Public Lecture on Palestine at SIRIM-AMREC

.
CERAMAH DAN PELANCARAN TABUNG PALESTIN DI SIRIM-AMREC

Today at 3 pm, we had a public lecture on Palestine, subsequently a launching of Palestine Humanitarian Fund at Advanced Materials Research Centre (AMREC), SIRIM Berhad. The event was organized by Kelab AMREC with the purpose of increasing the awareness of our brothers and sisters in AMREC on the Palestinian issues particularly the on-going situation in Gaza. My warm gratitude goes to Dr Asri Selamat (AMREC Club's President) and the organizing committee for making it happened. The 1.5 hour lecture was delivered by Mr Aminuddin Shuib, the Deputy President of Jemaah Islamiah Malaysia (JIM) Kedah, a non-profitable non-governmental organization of Malaysia.

Mr Aminuddin delivered it very well. Alhamdulellah. Although I've seen most of the pictures and videos, I don't border rewatching. I consider them as memory refreshments. What I learned, each one of us (Muslims) is accountable for what happened in Palestine. Each one of us can cry but cry alone is not enough. Not at this time...

Farewell to Ms Syajaratunnur...

Farewell
It has been almost two weeks since she left us and I believe she is missed by many of us at Advanced Material Research Centre (AMREC), SIRIM Berhad. Miss Syajaratunnur Yaakub, more popular as Shaja at AMREC, tendered her resignation on the fourth week of May, last month. She joined Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) last week as a lecturer in engineering related field in Lumut Campus, Perak. I heard she got a good offer from UniKL. This is a rizq from Allah. Alhamdulellah. We were so happy for her.

Farewell Night

It was my housemate, Khairuldin who planned for the farewell dinner, which was to be attended by selected people. Assisted by our program treasurer, Shuhada, so we collected money among seven of us (the amount we keep it secret.. hehe). Well then, there we have it, at Teluk Tempoyak, Bayan Lepas, Penang Island on 25 May 2008. The selection of food by Khairuldin were excellent. Ikan masak tiga rasa (three-taste fish), ikan masak pedas (hot-chili fish), sotong goreng tepung (fried squid), kerang bakar (grilled cockles), kailan ikan masin (salted fish kailan vege) and a few more. So delicious, really enjoyed it. Although the farewell may not be grand for Shaja, we did honour her for the night.

To Khairuldin, Shuhada, Azmir, Azuan, Shams and Fatiha, thanks for making the farewell night a memorable one.

To Shaja I wish you all the best....
