My first day in UK

After a long 12 hours flight from Kuala Lumpur to Amsterdam, 3 hours in transit, Mr Amin and I finally arrived in Manchester at around 8.30 am.

Soon after we're done with the immigration, I saw Wayne, the taxi driver, was waiting for us at WH Smiths shop. Everything seemed to be going exactly to plan, alhamdulillah. He immediately took us to Belmont Hotel in Wrexham, Wales, almost 60 km away from Manchester. I like the country side, the view was just fantastic.

Cool weather and windy, love it! Temperature ranges between 8 and 13 degrees Celsius, but can fall below 8 degrees at night. To be continued...

Children's fantasy..

6hildhoodWhen I was a child I always dream of becoming a superhero. I want to save the world. Fight evil and bring justice. Fairy tales look so real to me. I believe there is some kind of door connecting to the other side of the world. What a fantasy! Perhaps, Narnia is the closest manifestation of my child's fantasy.

Farewell to Ms Syajaratunnur...

Farewell
It has been almost two weeks since she left us and I believe she is missed by many of us at Advanced Material Research Centre (AMREC), SIRIM Berhad. Miss Syajaratunnur Yaakub, more popular as Shaja at AMREC, tendered her resignation on the fourth week of May, last month. She joined Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) last week as a lecturer in engineering related field in Lumut Campus, Perak. I heard she got a good offer from UniKL. This is a rizq from Allah. Alhamdulellah. We were so happy for her.

Farewell Night

It was my housemate, Khairuldin who planned for the farewell dinner, which was to be attended by selected people. Assisted by our program treasurer, Shuhada, so we collected money among seven of us (the amount we keep it secret.. hehe). Well then, there we have it, at Teluk Tempoyak, Bayan Lepas, Penang Island on 25 May 2008. The selection of food by Khairuldin were excellent. Ikan masak tiga rasa (three-taste fish), ikan masak pedas (hot-chili fish), sotong goreng tepung (fried squid), kerang bakar (grilled cockles), kailan ikan masin (salted fish kailan vege) and a few more. So delicious, really enjoyed it. Although the farewell may not be grand for Shaja, we did honour her for the night.

To Khairuldin, Shuhada, Azmir, Azuan, Shams and Fatiha, thanks for making the farewell night a memorable one.

To Shaja I wish you all the best....

Am I the most loyal DiGi customer?

I think so.... I'll let you know why.
-- Change mobile service provider, from Celcom to Maxis or vise versa, is something common.
-- Change handphone to a new one, is something common also.
-- Change sim card, today this number, tomorrow another number, is very common too.

I did change my handphone a few times. The last was in November 2004. I'm still using Nokia 1100 until now (perhaps you guys can label me 'mobile conservative'... hehehe). But I never change my service provider, DiGi which I subscribed since 1999. I chose DiGi prepaid. In addition to that I never changed my number since the first day of my subscription. Almost eight years now. Ripley might not believe this. But it's true.

I think DiGi you should consider giving me an award, i.e. The most loyal DiGi customer of the planet.
The award must include RM50 monthly free airtime for three years.... hehehe.

I don't have any statistics or breakdown of mobile service subscribers in this country. As far as my friends are concern, three out of 20 are using DiGi. Not so many eh? Well my DiGi friends, I think we are unique. Yes we are. I know my DiGi friends, most of us are fantastic, romantic, bombastic, mr lova lova... hahaha just kidding. What is so special about DiGi? I'm not so sure but I like DiGi Birthday Bonus the most (because they offer 50% of the top up value). Also Family & Friends.

When I was a student I spent around RM30-40 a month for calls and sms. Now, I spend around RM60-80, perhaps more. But I'll try not to spend more than RM100 a month.
