Kampung Dong

Kampung Dong is a village where I was born. Situated in the district of Raub, Pahang, nearly 1.7 hours from Kuala Lumpur. I had my primary education at Sekolah Rendah Kebangsaan Muhammad Jabar, Dong, from Standard 4 to 6 (when I was 10 to 12 years old). I had a very interesting life here as a child, in which I may not be able to describe in words. Here I portray some pictures of my Dong village.

Thanks Izat. Saw Dong after a long long time. I studied in Sekolah Kebangsaan Dong from standards 3 to 5 during 1977-1979. I would love to connect to my old classmates. I am originally from Bangladesh and now reside in USA. What is the school known by, now-a-days? Do you know if there is an alumni association that I can contact. Would appreciate any help you can provide.
Thanks.

Rez, I'd searched around, couldn't find the alumni, sorry Rez.

Dong is just a small village, but happy to say it's developing now.

It's so odd to hear a Bangladeshi had his primary education in a Malay Village like Dong, happened in the late 70s. Hard to believe.

Do you still remember any of your friends, their names?

Salam Izat, it was very nice of you to have looked around for my sake. Appreciated it.
Yes, it was an amazing time. My father worked at the only clinic in Dong as a physician.Frankly, to this day, I say that my 3 years in Dong,Raub,Pahang, Malaysia were filled with some of the best memories of my life. I am indebted to all my Malaysian friends and teachers who made such lasting impressions on me with their friendship and love.

Some of my friends were Badaruzzaman Mat Nor, Ahmad Sahar, Khamsiah ( forgot her last name), Hisham..etc. I wish I could reach some of them and reminisce our time together..

Terimah Kasih, Izat.

Salam Rez. By the time I wrote this reply, I already spent a night in Dong. I'm going to spend 3-4 days here, family visit. I talked to my mom & auntie about you, they seemed to know your dad doctor quite well, however knew a little bit about you.

I need to check with my other relatives, perhaps could lead something down the road. I'll give you the update later...

Salam Hanim. So sorry I didn't open my email for so long so I have missed the notification. So Hisham that was mentioned by Rez Kabir is your brother. That is so cool! I'll convey the message to Rez soon.

Yes Hanim, I have a strong feeling that we are sedara. Our parents and their peers surely know each other well. Anyway thanks for dropping by.

Salam Hanim and Izat.
Thank you both for looking around for my sake :-)
Interestingly, a few weeks after I talked with Izat in this section, finally I managed to link up with my old friends through Facebook :-)
The "Hisham" I mentioned was known to me as "Badrul Hisham". Is he your older brother, Hanim?
I managed to talk to a lot of my friends through Facebook by now.
Anyway, I will remember this blog for a long time, since this was the place I started my search from..

I live in Austin, Texas. If you guys are anywhere near in Texas in future, please feel free to stop by. I will be very happy to have some Orang Melayu from Dong at my home and talk about Dong, Malaysia and my childhood...

Thanks..

Salam Rez. I'm so happy that you finally found your Dong's old friends through FB. Apologies for not being able to help you that much.

I have never been to USA, but would be glad if I got the chance. I heard Austin is one of the nicest places to stay in the US :)

As a Malaysian, I feel grateful to know someone like you who appreciate his childhood memories, Melayu from Dong and Malaysia.

You are always welcome to Malaysia.

Best Regards
